Spinal Stimulation
aa
Spinal
Stimulation
uses small electrical leads that block pain signals
from being perceived by the patient.
The leads are selectively placed across the area of the
spinal cord where the pain is generated.
An appropriate program is used to interfere with the pain
signal. This therapy
offers relief to patients suffering with significant chronic back
and extremity pain that hasn’t responded well to traditional
treatment options. If
a trial of this modality proves to be effective, an internalized
system can be surgically implanted. This can allow for long term
ongoing relief. Periodic
computer programming can be done using a remote control device to
allow for changing pain patterns.
